The Northern Sydney Judo Club (NSJC) is an exciting new Judo club located in St Ives, NSW serving boys and girls in the northern Sydney area who would like to learn Judo in a safe and fun environment.  While Judo originated in Japan, it is recognised as a major worldwide sport with international competitions held around the world and is the only martial arts currently held in the Olympics.

Boys and girls will learn Judo throws and mat work techniques through games, drills, randori (free practice) sessions, and competitions.  Judo techniques are based on using efficient use of mind and body, to easily throw someone who may be bigger than you.

New students start with a white belt and learn the basics of Judo by first learning how to fall.  Then some basic throws and hold downs to advance to the next colour belt.  Students will learn about competition in the “friendly” club environment and then progress to competitions held at PCYCs and other nearby clubs.  As students get better with the Judo techniques and gain confidence, they can move up to state and national competitions.  While it will take hard work and dedication, we hope our students attain the Black Belt and represent Australia in international competitions and the Olympics.

NSJC practices Judo on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 4:30pm to 5:30pm at the Barra Brui Scout Hall in St Ives, which is located across the street from St Ives High School off Hunter Ave.  We look to continue to expand our club with more classes, as well as classes for girls only and high school students.  Please Email us to request more information.

NSJC is looking to expand its curriculum to include low or no impact Judo by teaching Ju no Kata or Forms of Gentleness as well as other forms of Judo. This class is open to all from boys and girls to men and women.  If you are interested, please
